Maurizio's Raw Vegan Chocolate Mixed Berry Pie

Hankering for a sweet treat that's a breeze to make while being rich, delicious, and healthy, all at the same time?

 

This no-bake, dairy-free chocolate pie recipe, shared by one of our wonderful community members, is topped with berries of your choosing and makes for an amazing vegan dessert with no sugar, flour or artificial flavors.

 

It's filled with a blend of carefully selected organic ingredients that retain both nutritional value as well as all of the tasty goodness that comes with an after dinner treat. Sounds too good to be true, right?

 

Wrong!

 

Some people might shudder at the idea of using raw cacao powder when forming the crust, as it is very bitter. But the dates, sweet aguave and coconut are blended together with the cacao powder to offset any bitter taste, resulting in a crust that has a rich and decadent texture, and flavor, like no other.

 

Pro tips to make raw chocolate mix berry pie crust

 

  • Make sure not to over blend your crust. You want it to be ground well but any texture beyond coarse is too much.
  • Consider saving 1/4 cup of the crust mixture so that you can sprinkle it on top.

 

What about the chocolate filling?

 

This is where the texture of this recipe truly shines.

 

Bananas, avocados, agave syrup, coconut oil and vanilla extract unite as one to create a smooth and creamy filling. Top it all off with berries of your choice and you have yourself a healthy, chocolatey wonder that's so rich and satisfying you'll want to make it again!

How to cook Raw Chocolate Mix Berry Pie

  1. In a food processor, blend almonds, dates, agave or maple, sea salt, and organic coconut together just until sticky (but not too much, or you may end up with more of nut butter!) Take a pie dish and press mixture firmly to form a pie crust.
  2. Place the remaining ingredients in a blender for filling and mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Take the filling and pour it into the pie dish. Smooth it out with a spatula.
  4. Take fresh berries and place them on top of it.
  5. Place it in a freezer for 2 hours, and set to thaw for 5-10 minutes before serving.
