  • ½ cup cubed tempeh
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp vegan butter
  • ½ cup marsala cooking wine
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


How to Make Tempeh Marsala

  1. Add the flour, salt, and pepper together in a bowl.
  2. Coat the cubed tempeh in flour combination. Let the tempeh sit for 20 minutes while coated.
  3. Slice the onion to a size of your liking.
  4. Sauté the mushrooms and onions in a pan with vegan butter over low-medium heat until cooked.
  5. Add the tempeh to the pan. Then, add the marsala sauce to the pan.
  6. Set the heat to a low temperature and cook for about 1 hour or until the sauce is at a consistency of your liking. Add more flour to thicken sauce or add water to thin it out.
  7. Serve over your favorite type of pasta or rice!
