Hello everyone! I'm Victor - a content creator here at Assuaged. I’m a creative writer in spirit and a journalist at heart. With a passion for people and a penchant for learning, I’m thrilled to be of use in any way that I can. It’s all about diversifying ye old portfolio. I’m currently an intern here, but in the future I aim to provide more value to this company using the skill sets that I have built over the years. These include, but are not limited to:

Currently, I am employed full time as a proofreader at a news publication company called Media Sales Plus. Working here has strengthened my multi-tasking and teamwork abilities. I have had to proofread many different types of documents, and I work daily under a plethora of strict deadlines for more than 10 different publications; each with their own rules and regulations.
I am also a recent SUNY Fredonia undergrad alumni with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Philosophy. I've been fortunate to lead and work collaboratively with many great teams.
As assistant news editor for the student-run school newspaper called The Leader, I worked with my news editor to lead and train a team of staff writers. We used Google Docs to edit their articles and we trained new writers to interview sources, we taught them how to write in AP style format, and we guided them to utilize and organize source material in the most effective way possible. In journalism, less is always more! Condense your word usage, but make sure it packs a punch!

Working as President of the Society of Professional Journalists at Fredonia was also a treasured experience of mine. I worked collaboratively with my team to shed light on what was once a lesser known club on campus. I am most proud that all three of our presentation rooms were packed during our annual SPJ Journalism Conference event on Nov. 3, 2018, which featured Tim Graham from the Athletic as our keynote speaker.
In my down time, I love to cook meals and I like to get crafty and try new things! I am also currently writing a novel called The Akiyama Path: a coming of age story and tribute to the Japanese Hanami tradition which celebrates the beauty and fragility of life.
