What is moringa and why is it essential?

Moringa plant essentially dubbed miracle tree with many health benefits and used in different cultures for centuries. It has been used to cure headaches, enhance immune system, relieve constipation, weight reduction, increase libido, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure and effective for glaucoma (Wong C., 2021).

The pods, seeds, leaves of moringa are high in antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

The leaf in powdered form contains all nine essential amino acids needed by the body. The pods are high in vitamin c with the edible seed containing oleic acid.

It has anti-inflammatory properties.

It is essential for many health problems (Wong C., 2021).

  • Pancake Ingredients:
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tbs Vegetable oil or Melted butter
  • 2 Tbs Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Moringa Powder
  • 11/2 Teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Toppings by preference


Vegan moringa smoothie

  1. In a bowl, whisk milk, egg, vegetable/melted butter, sugar. Add Moringa powder, flour, baking powder, salt and whisk all together. Heat a cast iron skillet pan on a medium heat. Brush the pan with vegetable oil or butter. Drop about a quarter cup of the mixture in the skillet pan at a time. As the circle bubbles, flip the pancake and allow to cook for about a minute. Stake the pancake and enjoy with a preferred topping.
