How to Make a Veggie Burger (Black Bean)

ingredients:

  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 egg (Vegan - use 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed and 3 tablespoons of water to replace 1 egg)
  • 1 cup black beans
  • 2 cups of mushrooms
  • 1 cup carrots
  • 1/2 of an onion
  • 1/2 of a pepper
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 2 jalapeños
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Vegan cheese
  • Pickles
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Buns

instructions:

How to Make a Veggie Burger (Black Bean)

  1. Add cilantro, carrots, mushrooms, garlic, 2 jalapeños, and onion into a blender. Blend to a somewhat chunky consistency.
  2. Pour black beans into a bowl and mash them up with a fork.
  3. After the black beans have been mashed, mix an egg with them. Then take the blended mixture and combine it with the black bean mixture. Add cumin if desired.
  4. Add bread crumbs to the mixture until it reaches a thicker consistency.
  5. Heat a pan on medium-high and spray with coconut oil. Spray your hands as well.
  6. Take a chunk of the mixture and form it into a ball, and then pat it down and put it in the pan. Cook for about 6 minutes on each side.
  7. Apply cheese if desired and cover the pan to allow the cheese to melt.
  8. While the burgers cook, slice the onions, tomatoes, and toast the buns.
  9. After about 10 minutes of the burgers cooking while covered, remove the burgers from the pan and assemble your burger.
  10. Put the lettuce, tomato, ketchup, onions, and pickles on your burger. Feel free to substitute or add whatever condiments you like!
