Homemade Fries

Yield: 4
prep time: 40 M cook time: 30 M total time: 1 H 10 M

  • 4 yellow potatoes
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Pink himalyan salt

How To Make Homemade Fries

  1. Preheat oven to 450° and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Cut potatoes into even slices.
  3. Take a bowl full of water and submerge your potato slices in it. Let soak in the refrigerator for 20 - 30 minutes.
  4. After the refrigeration time is up, drain the fries using a strainer. Then rinse them with water one more time.
  5. Set the fries on a clean towel to allow them to dry even more. Make sure all the fries are covered in the towel. This allows for crispier fries.
  6. After the excess moisture has been removed, add the fries into a large bowl. Pour in the spoonful of liquified coconut oil. Then add in all the seasonings. Stir until fries look evenly covered.
  7. Place the fries on the baking sheet, making sure to place them evenly so that they do not touch and have some room to breathe.
  8. Cook for 30 minutes, flipping the fries over halfway through, then cook for another 15 minutes.
  9. Let cool and enjoy the fries. Feel free to use your favorite dipping sauce or just eat them plain.

Comedian Preacher Lawson

Comedian Preacher Lawson

Preacher Lawson is a stand-up comedian, actor, singer, human, professional black guy. I was born in Portland, Oregon, but raised most of my adolescence in Memphis, TN. I moved 20 times before age 10, but if you asked me what city I'm from I'd say Orlando, FL. Because that's where I grew as a comedian.

Growing up switching schools all of the time you had to learn how to adapt. Everywhere I'd go I would learn about different people and different cultures, but I noticed the one universal language everyone had in common was laughter. Which is how I spoke and warmed up to most people. Even when I wasn't the funniest I was still the loudest.

I started writing jokes when I was 16 for about a year, then decided to perform for the first time at age 17 as between my mother and I. Best decision of my life.

Are you addicted to salt and sugar?

Many of us don't even realize that we are addicted to two harmful substances that can easily be substituted. If you love sugar, try using maple syrup. If you love salt, try using Pink Himalayan Salt. Can you believe these two simple replacement ingredients have health benefits?
